Jackson County – Trout Capitol!

img_6740

This is our granddaughter Miriam and the trout she caught in the Tuckaseegee River. She went fishing with Pop (Phil) and her Dad and cousins. They had such a great time, and she really enjoyed eating her catch that night.

Commissioners Brian McMahan, Chairman, and Boyce Dietz both worked hard to have Jackson County designated the trout capitol of North Carolina. I hope to join Commissioners Dietz and McMahan as a Commissioner dedicated to protecting our natural resources and the right of all citizens to enjoy fishing, hunting, hiking, tubing, biking and all the many opportunities outdoors in Jackson County.

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Winter is holding on, but February 12th will be here soon. That is the day I officially file as a candidate for the District seat on the Jackson County Board of Commissioners.

After much prayer and discussion with family and friends, I am excited about taking this step. I feel there is a negative attitude about politics in our current culture and that concerns me. We need to see elected office as an opportunity to SERVE our community and find ways to improve the lives of all our citizens.

I commit to be a public servant, serving all the citizens of Jackson County.

I also believe that it is time to have a woman on the Board of Commissioners again! (Just ask my mother…)

Diversity is always helpful when individuals are willing to listen to each other and work together for the best solutions. I plan to do both.

I will post regularly to share more about myself and where I stand on the issues facing our community.

Stay warm!
